Liverpool and Manchester United are both eyeing 18-year-old Wolverhampton striker Mateus Mane, and discussions over a potential transfer have already taken place.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool made an approach in the final days of the summer transfer window, expressing their willingness to sign the young forward and loan him back to Wolverhampton for the remainder of the season.
However, the Wolves were not keen on parting ways with Mane, and the player himself was not pushing for a move. As a result, the negotiations did not lead to a deal.
Interest in the talented youngster doesn't stop there, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham also keeping tabs on Mane, suggesting that the race for his signature could heat up in future transfer windows.
Although Liverpool opted to bolster their flank with Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz, their pursuit of Mane highlights the club’s continued focus on nurturing young talent for the future.
