Everton and Manchester United played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the third round of the Premier League at Hill-Dickinson Stadium.
With the first half ending goalless, the teams turned up the heat after the break, treating fans to a spectacular finish filled with drama and four goals.
United broke the deadlock just after the restart when Bryan Mbeumo found the net in the 46th minute, courtesy of a well-placed assist from Kobbi Mainu — 0:1.
Everton responded in the 83rd minute, as Tyreek George levelled the score with a neat finish following a smart pass from Harrison Hecney — 1:1.
However, United regained the lead just five minutes later. Benjamin Sesko met a cross from Luke Shaw, heading it home to make it 2:1 for the visitors.
It seemed as though Michael Carrick’s side was destined to claim all three points, but Everton had other ideas. In a dramatic twist, Ainsley Maitland-Niles netted a vital equaliser in the dying moments of the match, scoring in the 90+6th minute to seal the draw at 2:2.
Thus, Manchester United missed out on what could have been a hard-fought victory, while Everton earned a crucial point thanks to their last-gasp goal.
