15-Second Brief
Manchester City's Enzo Maresca praised Pep Guardiola but asserted his intention to develop his own ideas. The manager also named Marc Guehi as the club's future captain. The team confidently sits atop the Premier League despite a recent defeat to PSG.

Main Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca has expressed immense respect for Pep Guardiola's ten-year spell at the Etihad Stadium. Yet, the Italian accentuated the need to infuse his own philosophy into the squad.

He deserves respect for what he has done here over ten years. It’s a long time, and all those titles the club has won. At the same time, with a new manager comes new ideas that must be implemented.

Currently, Manchester City are leading the Premier League, boasting seven wins from seven games. However, they faced a setback last week, suffering a 3-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League. Guardiola was present for the match, and Maresca noted that while their conversation post-game was brief, he identified some positive developments in the second half.

Maresca also heaped praise on Marc Guehi, dubbing him the club's future captain. The defender made the switch from Crystal Palace in January and is already among the team’s quartet of captains.

He's a fantastic player, a fantastic person. Very humble. He probably didn’t see himself as a leader, but for us, he’s one of the leaders. He’s quite a quiet leader, but he possesses all the qualities to be one.

Guehi himself commented on his new role in the dressing room, stating:

It’s funny, I don’t see myself as a leader. It’s more about just being myself, trying to set an example now that everyone is looking at me.

These statements come as independent inquiries have confirmed the club's guilt in serious financial breaches, with an appeal still underway.
