15-Second Brief
Como's head coach Cesc Fabregas has declined to discuss links to Manchester United, labelling such inquiries disrespectful to Michael Carrick ahead of their Champions League meeting.

Cesc Fabregas, head coach of Italian side Como, has firmly refused to comment on rumours linking him with a potential appointment at Manchester United. The Spaniard decried such questions from journalists as disrespectful to Michael Carrick ahead of their Champions League clash.

The coach chose not to elaborate on the topic of a managerial change at the English club.

I won’t answer that question because I find it quite unattractive. I don’t think it shows proper respect to such a magnificent footballer and manager as Michael Carrick, who leads a wonderful team.

This season, Manchester United have managed a mere two victories, while Como has been on a roll, occupying a solid fifth place in Serie A following a recent 3-1 victory over Fiorentina. Despite the struggles of their opponents, Fabregas expressed immense respect for the Manchester giants.

Manchester United are a historic club that I know very, very well. We hold them in great respect for who they are and what they do because they have incredible players. Last year, he did a fantastic job getting the club back to where it belongs, in the Champions League, for the first time in many years, so it’s not all that bad. It is a huge honour for us to host them for the first time in our history.
