Manchester United manager Michael Carrick provided his thoughts following the 2-0 defeat to Hull City in their Premier League opener during the early kick-off slot (12:30 UK).
The United boss urged for patience as he evaluated the errors made and responded to inquiries about a potential signing of Carlos Baleba.
“We’ve got areas to improve on. No one promised that everything would be perfect straight away. It’s always harder to recover, especially away to a team that has just been promoted and is playing in front of their home fans. We shouldn’t have given them so many opportunities, and they capitalised on their chances. We are very disappointed, but this result will certainly not break us.
What exactly needs to improve? That’s our internal work. We have to put in a productive week’s effort to grow stronger as a team and learn as much as possible from this match.
Conceding goals? Two goals conceded is always frustrating. They decided the outcome of today’s game, and we definitely need to get better in that aspect. However, one individual match does not alter the direction of our journey as a club.
Regarding a potential transfer for Carlos Baleba? My focus today was solely on the game. As for any other player, until they are officially our player, I won’t make any comments.”
