Manchester City manager Enzo Marresca has firmly declined to comment on any potential transfer involving Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea. The Italian highlighted that he doesn’t believe it’s right to publicly discuss players who are part of other clubs.
The statement from Marresca was reported by insider Fabrizio Romano, who noted the manager’s clear stance when pressed about the Argentine midfielder:
Enzo Fernandez is a Chelsea player. I’m not going to talk about players who don’t play for us.
Firstly, because I consider it disrespectful. Secondly, I don’t like it when other managers talk about our players either.
With just 10 days left until the transfer window closes, a lot can still happen. I hope we can accomplish what we’ve planned.
Marresca's comments come in the wake of reports linking Manchester City with an interest in Fernandez, as the club looks to strengthen their midfield options following Rodri’s departure to Barcelona.
However, he neither confirmed nor denied City's interest in the midfielder, reiterating that his comments were solely about the principle of not discussing a player currently contracted to Chelsea.
