15-Second Brief
Ryan Ayat-Nouri intends to leave Manchester City in January due to a lack of playing time. Manchester United are interested and may make another attempt to sign the defender.

Representatives of Ryan Ayat-Nouri are doing everything possible for the defender to leave Manchester City this winter. The 25-year-old has hardly seen any game time since Enzo Maresca took over.

Ayat-Nouri has yet to feature in the Premier League this season, playing just 168 minutes in the EFL Cup and the Champions League. Maresca previously explained the situation as one of competition:

He is a classic left-back. In this position, we have Josko Gvardiol, who is playing fantastically, and Nico O'Reilly, who also performs well when fit. All of them play in the same position, so there is simply competition between them.

According to L'Equipe, Manchester United are interested in Ayat-Nouri. The club attempted to sign the defender on loan last summer but were turned down. Now the club needs to strengthen the left flank of their defence due to the absence of Luke Shaw and injury issues with Patrick Dorgu.

Sources close to Ayat-Nouri have confirmed the player's desire to change teams:

Everything possible is being done to leave this winter. The player is still highly regarded in England and beyond.

We need to find the best solution together with Manchester City. He cannot remain in a situation where his talent is going to waste.
