Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has opened up about veteran striker Danny Welbeck's arrival at Stamford Bridge. Remarkably, this is the third club they have shared in their careers, having previously played side by side at Watford and Brighton.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the Brazilian expressed the significant impact Welbeck has had on his career:
I have already told Danny that he is very special to me. When I first arrived in England, I couldn’t speak a word of English. Danny was always there to help me settle in and communicate with the boys.
At Brighton, he always pushed me to do better. When I came to Chelsea, he immediately said to me, ‘Hey, Joao, now we are at Chelsea, but I’m still going to demand the best from you.’ I said, ‘No problem at all.’ For me, he is a top player and an amazing person.
Welbeck joined the London side last summer, taking on the role of a seasoned mentor for the attacking line-up.
