Jamie Carragher has dubbed Arsenal the favourites for the Premier League title despite a lack of a superstar in attack. Opta's model similarly ranks Arteta's side above Manchester City.

Former Liverpool defender and analyst Jamie Carragher is convinced that Arsenal maintain their status as the frontrunners to retain the Premier League title, despite a glaring absence of star quality in attack. He believes that the only real danger to Mikel Arteta's team this season is Manchester City.

The Gunners' hard-fought victory over Nottingham Forest, secured by a deflected shot from Noni Madueke in the 80th minute, highlighted their ongoing struggles with creativity and ease in the opposition's box. Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, Carragher candidly pointed out the champions' main vulnerability:

They still lack that star dust in the final third, and they failed to secure the signing of that superstar player they wanted over the summer.

Nevertheless, the former Merseyside player emphasised that this shortcoming is more than compensated for by the team's remarkable balance and solidity. Carragher praised the depth of Arsenal's squad and the reliability of their starting eleven, noting that the incredible density and discipline in every line make Arteta's team virtually impervious to most opponents in the league.

These conclusions are echoed by a supercomputer developed by the statistics platform Opta, whose mathematical model gives Arsenal a 46.9% chance of clinching the title, while Manchester City's probability stands at 40.4%. The Gunners now face a challenging away tie in the Champions League against Bayern Munich, before returning home to face Everton, while Manchester City prepares for a tough test at Villa Park against Aston Villa.
