Nottigham Forest manager Oliver Glasner reflected on a disappointing home defeat to Leeds United (0-1) during the afternoon slot of Premier League's opening weekend on the BBC's Match of the Day.
The Austrian boss noted the tight nature of the match, praised the structural stability of his defence, and stressed the importance of learning the right lessons ahead of Tuesday's rematch against the Yorkshire side.
"This was exactly the game I expected: a match with minimal dangerous moments, where a single incident or set piece could make all the difference. We are incredibly disappointed with the result, but we must be ready for such tight contests in the Premier League.
In the second half, it felt like we started to control the game better. There were whole periods when the opposition barely made it out of their half, and we were applying pressure in their third. Then, at the death, it was decided by a throw-in, followed by two mistakes from us, leading to a free-kick — anything can happen in situations like that. We know how skillfully Stak can execute such set pieces.
As for the defence? That was a clear positive. We managed to create a few half-chances with quick transitions, but we still need to improve in the attacking department. We've only been working together for a few weeks, but the team already looks very stable defensively. There's still a lot of work ahead.
Transfer business? Honestly, I haven't spoken to anyone about new signings today. We wanted to start the season with a home win, but now we have to accept this defeat. On Tuesday, we host Leeds again here, and we’ll have a great opportunity to show that we've learnt the right lessons."
