Former Liverpool forward Michael Owen thinks the Reds are capable of putting up a strong fight against reigning champions Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title. He pointed out that rival clubs are encountering major challenges.
"It wouldn't be a huge surprise if Liverpool were to win the league. They undoubtedly have excellent players, and there's a good chance that one or two more might join in the next couple of weeks. It's absolutely possible," Owen stated.
However, the expert acknowledged that the London club remains the main favourite at this stage.
"But for now, Arsenal have a better chance. They performed well last season and look very solid. There are significant questions around almost all the other teams," he noted.
Owen also provided a detailed analysis of the situation facing the main contenders.
"I don't think there are any questions about Arsenal. Meanwhile, Manchester City have lost Pep Guardiola and Rodri. Those are two massive losses. Liverpool have a new manager, and with Salah potentially leaving, there are big questions about where the goals will come from. Chelsea and Tottenham both have new bosses. Can Manchester United cope with the extra games this season? They've also lost Casemiro. There are significant questions for nearly every team apart from Arsenal, but it wouldn't be surprising if Liverpool enjoyed a strong season," Owen summarised.
