Liverpool have seen their £50 million offer for Yankuba Minta turned down, but the prospect of the Brighton winger making a switch to Anfield remains alive. According to The Athletic's Andy Naylor, negotiations could eventually yield a compromise.
The news of Liverpool's interest in Minta was first reported by David Ornstein. Brighton dismissed the £50 million bid for the 22-year-old, but Naylor believes the gap between Liverpool's offer and the amount that would persuade the Seagulls is not insurmountable.
Naylor stated:
Regarding transfers, I think Minta to Liverpool and Baleba to Manchester United will likely happen, as the offers of £50 million and around £60 million respectively are not far from the figures that would make sense for both parties.
It’s another case of big profits and moves to larger clubs for players who have been given game time and a chance to grow. That’s the model Brighton follows.
Minta isn’t the only winger that Liverpool are eyeing. Their top target remains Bradley Barcola from PSG, with separate talks continuing for him.
There’s also been chatter about Liverpool's interest in young Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri. However, despite a strong appreciation for his talent, the Merseysiders have no immediate plans to initiate discussions over a transfer this summer.
