Gary Neville believes the acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes could secure Arsenal a second consecutive title. The former Manchester United defender was already leaning towards backing Mikel Arteta's side, but the Brazilian's transfer has solidified his prediction.
The 28-year-old Guimaraes made his move from Newcastle to Arsenal for £75 million. The Brazilian spent four years at St James' Park, serving as captain and helping the club win the EFL Cup in 2025.
Gary Neville stated:
I was going to back Arsenal in the Premier League anyway, but I think the signing of Bruno Guimaraes just automatically guarantees Arsenal the title.
I absolutely love him. He’s a character with a vibrant personality. I think this is a colossal signing.
The significance of Guimaraes' transfer is huge; he’s a magnificent player. To get him from Newcastle for £75 million is a serious acquisition.
New signing Mikel Merino echoed these sentiments. The Spaniard highlighted not just Guimaraes' technical skills but also the amount of work he can put in off the ball:
What a tremendous signing. Over the last few years at Newcastle, he’s proven how good he is.
He showed that in pre-season as well. He has the composure, technical ability, plus he does a massive amount of work defensively.
This is a very good signing. He’s a top-level player, although we’ve got plenty of those. So, we're delighted with every addition capable of helping the squad.
