Liverpool are in a strong position to complete the transfer of Bradley Barcola before the summer window slams shut. French journalist Fabrice Hawkins has reported that the 23-year-old winger is keen on a move to Anfield, and PSG are aware of his desire and prepared for his sale.
The main hurdle remains the player's valuation. Initially, the Parisians placed a €170 million price tag on Barcola, but according to Hawkins, the final transfer fee may be significantly lower:
Bradley Barcola wants to move to Liverpool. PSG have been informed of his desire, and they have acknowledged it. There are no intentions to keep Bradley Barcola. The sticking point is the player's price — it was initially said to be €170 million.
Liverpool have made various verbal offers. There were several discussions after the first one, but no written proposal has been submitted yet, as I think the next official offer will be the one that could seal the deal.
As we understand, the sum will likely be in the region of €130 million to €150 million. In any case, PSG will not accept less than €120 million for Barcola. All parties involved believe that an agreement will be reached.
Thus, PSG aren't closing the door on the departure of the French winger but are hoping to secure a substantial fee. If the clubs settle closer to the upper end of the stated range, this transfer would become a record for Liverpool.
Barcola's own position also plays into Liverpool's hands. The Frenchman is eager to continue his career at Anfield, and personal terms on a long-term contract have reportedly already been broadly agreed.
However, Hawkins emphasises that the deal is not yet done: a written offer that satisfies PSG has yet to come in. Nevertheless, those involved in the negotiations are confident that a compromise will be reached before the transfer window closes.
