Liam Rosenior says his Chelsea sacking had nothing to do with football, but has declined to explain what happened.

Former Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has spoken about his 106-day spell in charge at Stamford Bridge, claiming the decision to sack him had nothing to do with results.

“It was the best experience of my life and, at the same time, the hardest. It was fantastic, even if it only lasted four months,” Rosenior told French publication So Foot.

“I don't want to go into detail now. I'll talk about it one day, when the time comes. But in a country where tolerance is considered an important value, what happened there had nothing to do with football. I understand that I've answered without answering directly. In fact, the moment that troubled me most came right at the start, when we went on a five-match winning run. Any club would be happy with a run like that, but not Chelsea. You get good results and immediately come under scrutiny. Then it snowballed in the media,” the coach said.

Rosenior said the press and his critics had made his work a subject of ridicule:

“They laughed at the instructions I gave Garnacho on a scrap of paper when we were down to 10 men against PSG. My clothes became the subject of jokes, and so did the way I spoke. I'm not a joke! You're the first people I've spoken to about this, and probably the last for a long time, but one day I'll tell you what really happened.”

Rosenior was sacked by Chelsea after five consecutive defeats without scoring, including a 3-0 loss to Brighton in which Chelsea did not register a shot on target. The English coach is now in charge of Paris FC, who are fourth in Ligue 1.
