Tottenham are not planning to sell 20-year-old midfielder Lucas Bergvall despite interest from Barcelona and Napoli. According to Football Insider, the London club sees the Swede as a crucial part of their long-term project, even though he has only played four Premier League matches this season.
In the summer, Bergvall considered leaving due to a lack of playing time, but Roberto De Zerbi convinced him to stay. In September, the midfielder signed a new contract until 2031.
Barcelona, who missed out on the player in 2024, continue to monitor him, as do Napoli. According to CaughtOffside, the Catalans are attracted by the Swede's technical ability, physical fitness, and versatility. Meanwhile, Tottenham's management are confident he can become a regular starter in the future.
Tottenham's sporting director Johan Lange previously stated:
Lucas is an outstanding young player with immense potential, and we are very glad that he has committed his future to the club.
