Legendary Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard expressed he would personally welcome the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Real Madrid, but he doubts whether such a move would be the right decision for the team at this moment.
According to the former midfielder, the exceptional quality of the right-back and his previous contributions to the club are undeniable, but the way his career in England ended could seriously hinder a reunion.
From a quality and talent perspective – yes. From what he did for Liverpool for our successes, I would also say yes. But the end of that story… the wounds from that are still fresh. Personally, I would be in favour. But do I think it is right for the current squad, for the current manager, and the position the club is in right now? I’m not so sure. Does he make Liverpool’s team stronger? In terms of play and talent – absolutely. So it’s a very complicated situation,” Gerrard noted.
