Wolverhampton midfielder Andre has explained the reasons behind his decision to turn down a lucrative offer from Liverpool in 2023. The Brazilian remained loyal to a promise made to Fluminense, helping his team see out their Copa Libertadores campaign.
The Merseysiders were prepared to pay €34.5 million (£30 million) for the midfielder, and the personal contract on offer would have provided him with life-changing income.
We did not expect a request from Liverpool. You usually don't say no to such offers, Andre admitted in an interview with Globo Esporte, highlighting how tempting the opportunity was.
Despite the enormous temptation, the player honoured his agreement with his home club and helped the Brazilian side secure the prestigious 2023 Copa Libertadores trophy. Andre only moved to the Premier League in 2024, joining Wolverhampton for €25 million after Jurgen Klopp left the Merseyside club.
