Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz has spoken about his goal against Newcastle, which helped his side secure a 1-1 draw in the 10th round of the Premier League.
The Brazilian came off the bench and scored in the 83rd minute, cancelling out Jacob Murphy's goal. After the final whistle, Muniz said the goal had special significance for him after a difficult previous season.
“The last match against Aston Villa was very difficult. We trained hard this week and knew we were in for a tough game.
“Newcastle have very good players, so I'm happy I was able to score and help my team-mates,” the striker told Premier League Studios.
Muniz on preparing to come on
The forward said he works hard in training every week to earn the chance to play and score.
“I train hard every week to get the chance to come on and score. I need to be ready. In the first half, I told Kevin: ‘I have to be ready, I need to warm up properly, and when I come on I need to do my best,’” Muniz said.
‘Last season was very difficult for me’
The goal was particularly significant for the Brazilian because of his previous season. Muniz said he had scored only once then and now wants more playing time.
“Last season was very difficult for me. This goal is very important to me. I scored only one goal last season – that's not good enough. I want to play more, and this goal shows everyone that Rodrigo is here,” the striker said.
