Pete O'Rourke says Roberto De Zerbi does not intend to let Conor Gallagher leave Tottenham in January despite Leeds' interest.

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi has made a final decision on the possible departure of midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is the subject of concrete interest from Daniel Farke's Leeds United.

German outlet Fussball News previously reported that Leeds, along with Aston Villa and Everton, were looking to strengthen their midfield and considering Gallagher for the January transfer window. Football Insider journalist Callum O'Connell later confirmed the information, noting that Crystal Palace, where Gallagher enjoyed a successful loan spell from Chelsea, were also long-standing admirers.

Gallagher joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid for £34 million in January 2026, signing a contract until 2031. The 26-year-old midfielder has scored three goals and provided one assist in 27 appearances in all competitions. The England midfielder has not established himself as a regular starter this season, starting just three Premier League matches.

Despite Gallagher's limited playing time, De Zerbi is strongly opposed to selling him in mid-season, according to transfer insider Pete O'Rourke. The Tottenham manager considers Gallagher a key member of the squad and does not intend to let him leave in the winter:

“I don't believe in this move at all. De Zerbi regularly uses Gallagher,” O'Rourke said.

“It's only been about a year since his expensive move from Atletico, when he joined a team fighting for survival. He still has a big role at Tottenham, a long-term contract until 2031, and De Zerbi doesn't intend to lose a player like that. He's a versatile, selfless and committed player who this team need.”
