Foden drew criticism following his dismissal in the Manchester derby, receiving a red card just 23 minutes into the match after a clash with Bruno Fernandes. Despite his early exit, Enzo Maresca's side managed to secure a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.

That’s why he’s still playing regularly. He’s given opportunities to show he can still be the Phil Foden we’re all used to seeing.
But there’s no doubt he’s a long way from the player he was before. He needs to prove his level again.
He has immense talent, so it is certainly possible. However, Manchester City are worried, as he hasn’t been the same for the past year or two.
Foden’s red card is significant, marking him as only the second Manchester City player to ever receive a red in an EPL match against Manchester United, with Bernardo Corradi being the first back in 2006.
As a result of his suspension, Foden will miss three domestic matches, hindering his chances to regain form quickly. The competition for a starting spot remains fierce; during the derby, substitute Iliman Ndiaye completed six successful dribbles and drew five fouls.
