Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has put fans’ minds at ease regarding Mason Mount's fitness following the midfielder's early exit during a friendly against PSG.
The England international, who has missed nearly 400 days through injuries since his move from Chelsea in 2023, sustained a foot bruise and was substituted in the first half of the match.
After the game, Carrick explained that the substitution was purely a precautionary measure:
He just took a knock on the leg. We wanted to be cautious and look after him. So far, we have been fortunate with injuries, so we didn't want to take any risks.
Post-match footage also surfaced, showing Mount walking to the team bus unaided and without visible limp.
Moreover, Carrick confirmed that next week, during the training camp in Dublin, players who had been resting after their World Cup 2026 commitments, including Marcus Rashford, will rejoin the squad. Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona:
I played alongside Marcus and was on the pitch when he made his debut, so we have a shared history. We will have a full squad in Dublin next week. We're heading straight there, and on Wednesday, we’ll face Leeds. It’s going to be a few days where the entire team comes together, including Marcus, Kobbie, and Lisandro.
