Manchester City have turned down Barcelona's initial offer for 2024 Ballon d'Or winner Rodri.
According to BBC Sport, the Catalan giants proposed $52 million (£38.5 million) for the 30-year-old midfielder. However, the City hierarchy believe they can command a fee exceeding $81 million (£60 million) for the Spaniard. Rodri himself is open to negotiations with the Blaugrana, while talks with Real Madrid have been completely shelved.
Enzo Fernandez is the top target for Enzo Maresca
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca sees Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez as the ideal replacement for Rodri. The Italian is well-acquainted with the 25-year-old Argentine's capabilities from their time together at the Blues.
City operate under a clear policy: they must find a suitable replacement for any player leaving the club. The Premier League champions have already spent $267 million (£198 million) on the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest and are close to securing Ayub Buaddi. Should Chelsea agree to part ways with their vice-captain, City's total outlay on midfield reinforcements this transfer window could exceed $400 million.
