Manchester City defeated Madrid's Atletico 3-1 in a friendly match in Seoul. Omar Marmush scored twice. Head coach Enzo Maresca commented on the team’s determined victory and reviewed the Asian tour.

Manchester City secured a determined 3-1 victory against Madrid's Atletico. The match took place in Seoul, wrapping up the English club's Asian tour.

City's head coach Enzo Maresca lauded his team's performance in what he described as a crucial test against one of Europe's top sides.

"Overall, it was a very good test against one of the best teams in Europe. I commend the players for their efforts. From tomorrow, pre-season training is over, and the real work begins," declared Maresca.

Atletico opened the scoring just before the break with a goal from Jorge Dominguez.

However, the second half belonged to Omar Marmush, who bagged a quick-fire double in just three minutes, assisted by Antoine Semenyo. Ryan Ait-Nouri sealed the game with the third goal.

Despite the victory, Maresca emphasised the need to improve their finishing.

"We need to be more composed. That’s something we need to work on. We’re slowly getting there, and with Erling Haaland, we can be even more dangerous. Today Omar scored twice, which is a big boost for us," added the City boss.

Manchester City concluded their tour with two wins and a penalty shootout defeat.

The team, now under the stewardship of Maresca following Pep Guardiola's departure, is preparing for the FA Community Shield match against London rivals Arsenal on August 16.
