The 21-year-old defender of Newcastle United, Lewis Hall, has turned down an offer to return to London club Chelsea in the current transfer window.
According to journalist Simon Phillips (Si Phillips Sport), the player's decision has given a significant boost to Manchester United, who are actively seeking reinforcements for their left-back position. The Manchester club hopes that a bid in the region of £60 million will persuade the Magpies to part with the Englishman.
It is reported that Lewis Hall feels discomfort and uncertainty regarding his future at St. James' Park. The defender's mood is linked to the general instability at Newcastle this summer, arising from the departure of head coach Eddie Howe and the sale of key players Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.
Previously, the left-back had been among the priority targets for the Red Devils under Michael Carrick. The player's rejection of Chelsea's offer makes Manchester United the clear favourite in the race for his signature, while the Blues have already shifted their focus to the transfer of Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano.
