To be honest, I don't quite understand why a top manager would want to join Chelsea right now.
People keep talking about Xabi Alonso as if he can walk into Stamford Bridge and magically fix everything overnight. Football doesn't work like that.
The club has turned into a revolving door. Managers come in with grand ideas, spend hundreds of millions, and within months, they're out the door. At some point, you have to stop blaming the managers and start looking at the people making the decisions.
Even in pre-season, I don't see a clear identity. I don't see a team ready to compete with the best clubs in England. If this is what they’re showing before the season even kicks off, how are they going to finish in the top five?
The squad is talented, but talent means nothing without direction. Right now, Chelsea looks like a club filled with pricey players but lacking a coherent football vision.
Unless something changes at the top, I don't think even Xabi Alonso can turn things around. The problems run much deeper than just the head coach.
