Enzo Maresca comments on Enzo Fernandez transfer: Chelsea are asking too much for an inconsistent player

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has responded to reports linking the club with Chelsea's central midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The Italian coach acknowledged Fernandez's undeniable talent but expressed concerns regarding his mental readiness, particularly following a red card incident at the World Cup. Moreover, Maresca was critical of Chelsea's financial demands:

We want to do everything possible to compete for trophies this season by signing top-level players. Enzo could be one of them, but after the incident with the red card at the World Cup, it’s clear that he is mentally unstable and not ready. On top of that, Chelsea are asking far too much for an inconsistent player. Perhaps we will look at other options.
