Chelsea rejected interest from Arsenal and Barcelona, who were willing to pay over €100m for Joao Pedro, and agreed a new contract with the Brazilian until 2033.

According to the reputable Brazilian outlet Ge Globo and insider Fabrizio Romano, London club Arsenal and Catalan side Barcelona have shown serious interest in 24-year-old Chelsea forward Joao Pedro. Both European giants were prepared to pay over €100 million (£85.5 million) in the current transfer window.

However, the hierarchy at Chelsea and the BlueCo consortium quickly blocked any potential negotiations, declaring the Brazilian a completely untouchable and unsellable player.

To firmly dismiss any speculation, Chelsea has already reached a verbal agreement with Joao Pedro regarding a new long-term contract running until June 2033. The deal includes a significant increase in the forward's salary following his impressive debut season at Stamford Bridge.

An official announcement regarding the contract extension is expected in the coming days.
