Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has assured Michael Carrick of his full commitment ahead of their visit to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The important discussion took place amidst immense pressure on the Manchester manager, following the team's worst start to a league season in 40 years.
According to The Guardian, the Portuguese midfielder and Carrick met at the training ground in Carrington on Tuesday morning to ease tensions that have emerged recently. The 32-year-old captain assured the manager that he is ready to give his all to turn around the team's fortunes. Following this, Carrick held a meeting with the entire squad, during which the players promised to significantly raise their performance levels.
Bruno Fernandes is expected to return to the starting lineup for the match against Chelsea after controversially remaining on the bench during the defeat to Bournemouth.
The club's management has given Carrick time until the international break in November to rectify the situation. Should performance continue to decline, alternatives for the managerial position being considered include Eddie Howe, Antonio Conte, and Julian Nagelsmann.
