Brighton put on a stunning display to record a comprehensive 4-0 victory against Aston Villa. The match's outcome was determined early on, with the hosts firing on all cylinders within just 31 minutes, sending the Villa fans into despair.
The Birmingham side's woes began almost immediately as Brighton launched a relentless barrage of attacks on Villa's goal. On the 8th minute, Pau Torres made a catastrophic error, mishitting a pass in his own area. Diego Gomez intercepted and struck the woodwork, with the rebound deflecting off Victor Lindelof and into the net for an own goal.
Brighton doubled their lead on the 18th minute, with Georginio Rutter bursting down the left flank after a long ball, reaching the byline and delivering a low cross that Maxim De Kuyper dispatched first-time.
A mere 12 minutes later, De Kuyper delivered another teasing ball from the left, which Gomez flicked on for Jack Hinshlewood, who made no mistake with a precise header to make it 3-0.
