Andoni Iraola targets 12 points in the Champions League match against Fenerbahce. The Liverpool manager warned of the challenges of playing in Istanbul and reflected on the loss to Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola shared his expectations ahead of the Champions League group stage match against Turkish side Fenerbahce, which will take place on Wednesday at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium. The Merseysiders have won all three of their opening matches in the tournament, scoring 12 goals, and are aiming to achieve four consecutive victories to secure 12 points and strengthen their position in the top eight for a direct spot in the Round of 16.

Iraola noted that the team's results in the Champions League and the EFL Cup have been better than their performances in the Premier League, although it is still early to draw any broad conclusions at the start of the season.

Assessing the opponent, the Reds' manager highlighted that the Turkish club is led by Dirk Kuyt, but the team's playing style remains unchanged. Iraola cautioned his players against losing focus in Istanbul:

Playing in Turkey is always difficult, and we must be fully prepared. Fenerbahce have a great squad, experienced players, and powerful support from the stands. We need to start the game strongly to undermine the confidence of the opponent and their fans.

The coach also pointed out the strengths of the opponent's midfield and emphasized the need for effective pressing to prevent the technically gifted Turkish midfielders from dictating the play.

Additionally, Iraola addressed the recent defeat to Arsenal, stating that despite the disappointing result, he was pleased with many aspects of the team's performance. He stressed the need to improve in finishing attacks and to be more active within the opponent's penalty area.
