Moisés Caicedo urged Enzo Fernández to stay at Chelsea this season, but his words carried a hint of uncertainty.
Caicedo spoke at a pre-match press conference, where he faced a few tricky questions despite the relaxed context of a pre-season friendly against Juventus.
The main topic was Enzo Fernández's future, which has been in question for several months now, and time is running out before his expected return to Chelsea. While Caicedo refrained from making sensational statements, he clearly expressed his hope that his midfield partner would remain.
Caicedo said:
I love Enzo. He knows I hold him in great esteem because we all know what kind of player he is. And not just a player - he is a wonderful person. I want him to stay, but I'm not going to shout about it. If he stays here, it would be a huge plus for us.
As for his own future, that seemed much simpler. Caicedo signed a new contract with the club, and according to him, the process didn’t require lengthy negotiations:
They didn’t say anything special to me when I extended my contract. I just wanted to keep playing for this club. They offered to extend the agreement, and I said yes because I want to become a legend here.
