Chelsea's young winger Jesse Derby is feeling quite let down with his loan at Sporting Lisbon. The 19-year-old has yet to receive the playing time he anticipated as he adjusts to the rigours of senior football.
Derby is particularly disappointed with the minimal trust shown by head coach Ruben Amorim, having only made three substitute appearances for a total of just 26 minutes on the pitch.
His pre-season performance, which included a standout goal against Monaco at the Jose Alvalade Stadium, had sparked optimism over his move. The England youth international expressed a keen desire to secure regular minutes and had labelled Amorim as a "phenomenal" coach.
Derby made the move to Portugal shortly after Chelsea extended his contract until 2032. Despite facing these early challenges and frustrations, he remains determined to fight for a spot in the starting lineup with the Lions.
