Ronald Araujo keen to stay at Liverpool after Iraola call

Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo, who recently joined Liverpool on loan from Barcelona, is reportedly eager to sign a permanent deal with the English club.

The key to his move was Liverpool's manager, Andoni Iraola, who personally reached out to Araujo to convince him to join the team. Following that conversation, the defender promptly agreed to the move, which was finalised within 48 hours.

Araujo accepted a pay cut to facilitate the transfer. The loan agreement runs for one season, but Liverpool has the option to purchase the player for a fee of around £47.1 million (€55 million).

The 27-year-old can play both centrally and on the right flank in defence, giving Iraola more flexibility in his defensive setup.
