Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola reflected on the goalless draw against Fulham, admitting his side lacked freshness and attacking edge.
“Clearly, we were short on freshness and lacked enough moments to create danger — this cost us the win. We improved in the second half, but overall it wasn't a good performance,” Iraola stated in an interview with Sky Sports.
The manager noted that Liverpool’s defence performed well, ensuring Fulham struggled to create any clear chances.
“We didn't concede, and the one really dangerous moment for Fulham came from a mistake by our goalkeeper. In attack, we need to do more. We’ve been dangerous in every match, but today we just lacked that freshness,” he added.
Iraola on the busy schedule
Iraola refused to use the team’s fatigue as an excuse for the lacklustre display.
“We can't use this as an excuse because it will be the case all season. We need to find ways to win matches, create goal-scoring opportunities and secure victories in tight games,” he said.
The Liverpool boss also praised Fulham, acknowledging their resilience under pressure.
“Fulham plays well, even though they haven't won matches yet. They have quality players, and they are a difficult team to face,” he remarked.
