Arsenal sold six players last summer after winning the league title. Mikel Arteta decided to refresh his squad, and some of those who left have already enjoyed notable success at their new clubs. Others are struggling.
Gabriel Martinelli — Al Hilal
Gabriel Martinelli was Arsenal's most expensive sale, joining Saudi side Al Hilal for £55.7 million.
The 25-year-old Brazilian has made an excellent start at his new club. He has six goals in six matches, scoring in each of his last four appearances. In one match, Martinelli completed a hat-trick in 54 minutes.
Al Hilal lead the Saudi league table, and the former Arsenal winger has quickly become one of their key players.
Leandro Trossard — Besiktas
The 31-year-old Belgian moved to Turkey for an initial £15.4 million. Arsenal had previously paid Brighton £27 million for him.
Trossard has made a decent start at Besiktas, although he has had injury problems. He scored in a 3-0 win over Erzurumspor before missing several matches with a heel injury.
The Belgian scored again in his latest appearance, a 2-2 draw with Kasimpasa. His team are fourth in the Turkish league.
Jakub Kiwior — Porto
The Polish defender joined Porto for £14.7 million and quickly established himself in the starting line-up.
Kiwior played every minute of the first ten Portuguese league matches. Francesco Farioli's side won all ten, conceding just four goals.
Porto are clear at the top of the league, five points ahead of their nearest challengers Benfica. Given the defender's performances, his move already looks like a good deal for the Portuguese club.
Gabriel Jesus — Barcelona
The Brazilian forward left a place on the Arsenal bench to join Barcelona, but has yet to become a regular starter.
Jesus has made seven La Liga appearances, starting only twice. Despite his limited playing time, he has recorded three goals and one assist.
The Brazilian has performed well as a substitute forward, covering for the prolific Raphinha.
Fabio Vieira — Hamburg
The Portuguese midfielder left Arsenal permanently after loan spells at Porto and Hamburg.
The German club paid £8.6 million for Vieira, but he has yet to live up to expectations.
The Portuguese player has not registered a goal or assist in 333 minutes of playing time. Hamburg are also struggling, sitting 15th in the 18-team Bundesliga.
Christian Norgaard — Everton
The Danish midfielder spent just one season at Arsenal. After joining from Brentford, he made 20 appearances but was unable to establish himself in Mikel Arteta's side.
Norgaard joined Everton last summer, but his situation has barely changed.
A groin injury kept the Dane out of the first five rounds of Premier League matches. After recovering, he played just five minutes in a 2-0 league defeat to Chelsea and four minutes in an EFL Cup match against Newcastle.
The midfielder now appears to have fully recovered. However, it is not yet clear whether he will get more playing time under David Moyes.
Martinelli and Kiwior have enjoyed the most success since leaving Arsenal. Jesus has also been productive despite his role as a substitute, while Vieira and Norgaard have yet to make their mark at their new clubs.
