15-Second Brief
Thierno Barry says he studies Erling Haaland and wants to challenge him for the Golden Boot after scoring twice against Coventry to reach 10 goals this season.

Everton striker Thierno Barry says he studies Erling Haaland to become a more prolific scorer. The 24-year-old Frenchman scored twice and provided an assist in a 3-1 win over Coventry City.

Barry scored twice in five second-half minutes before setting up Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who struck in the 81st minute. The victory was a special one for David Moyes, who equalled Harry Catterick's club record by taking charge of Everton for the 592nd time.

Last season, Barry needed 16 matches to score his first goal after joining from Villarreal for £27 million. He now has 10 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions. The Frenchman has scored six in the Premier League, putting him joint second with Alexander Isak in the scoring charts, three goals behind Haaland.

After the match, Barry told BBC Match of the Day:

It's always nice to score, especially when your team wins, so I'm very happy. I worked very hard in the summer and now the results of that work are showing. I'm pleased about that and I have to keep going in the same way to help the team win every match.

Honestly, sometimes it's difficult when you miss a lot of chances. It affects you mentally, but I always try to do my best.

Barry also praised the support of the fans at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It's always nice to play at home. The fans here are incredible. They sing from the first minute until the very end. Scoring and playing at this stadium is a real pleasure.

The Frenchman also spoke about his admiration for Haaland and his desire to compete with the Norwegian for the top scorer's award.

I'm very happy because I'm a fan of his. I watch a lot of videos of him playing and try to copy what he does. If I can compete with him for the Golden Boot until the very end, I'll definitely try to do that.

The striker also explained his unusual goal celebration.

Yesterday I was on social media and saw an American football player celebrating. I told Tyrique George that if we scored tomorrow, we'd dance exactly the same way. But I think he was shy, so I had to dance on my own.

The victory lifted Everton to fifth in the Premier League. After the international break, Barry will look to continue his scoring run and help the team challenge for European football.
