Reasons for rejecting the deal
According to TEAMtalk, intermediaries reached out to Liverpool and PSG with a proposal to re-enter the race for the Ivorian after talks between Madrid and Leipzig slowed over bonus structure issues.
However, both European giants responded with a refusal.
Player's priority: Diomande has already agreed personal contract terms with the 'Royal Club'.
Financial risks: Re-entering the race risked leading to overpayment (the transfer fee is estimated to exceed €100 million) for a player who views Liverpool merely as a backup option.
Shifting 100% attention to Bradley Barcola
After bolstering the squad with defender Jérémie Jaaqué and attacking player Víctor Muñoz, Andoni Iraola's coaching staff still require a top-class winger with dribbling skills and high speed.
According to The Guardian, the primary alternative to Diomande for the Merseysiders has become 23-year-old PSG winger Bradley Barcola.
