Renowned insider Fabrizio Romano has shared fresh insights regarding Chelsea's transfer plans, dismissing rumours of a new goalkeeper and hinting at potential player departures from the London club.
Diogo Costa rumours debunked
Despite earlier reports suggesting that Chelsea were ready to activate the £51 million release clause of Porto’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa, Romano has firmly denied any likelihood of such a move:
The rumours about Diogo Costa being close to Chelsea or that discussions have progressed are absolutely untrue. Chelsea are not currently in talks regarding Costa. He is a fantastic goalkeeper, but right now there is complete silence on this front between the clubs.
Chelsea's head coach Xabi Alonso also expressed his full confidence in the current goalkeeper roster, which includes Robert Sanchez and Mike Penders.
Who could leave Chelsea?
With an influx of new signings, the London club is reportedly looking to trim the squad. According to Romano, several players might exit the club:
