French club Strasbourg have begun discussions to secure the signature of Chelsea's 21-year-old Brazilian forward David Washington before the transfer window closes.
According to reports from journalist Nizar Kinsella, the Ligue 1 outfit, which shares ownership with Chelsea under the BlueCo umbrella, is currently at the front of the queue for Washington.
The player himself is keen on moving to France for a fresh start after a challenging spell in England, including a disappointing loan at Santos in 2025 where he managed just three goals in 36 appearances. Clubs from Portugal and across various European leagues are also keeping tabs on the situation surrounding the young Brazilian international.
The shared ownership simplifies negotiations for the transfer between London and Strasbourg significantly.
Since joining Chelsea from Santos for £17 million in 2023, Washington has made only three appearances for the first team, mainly featuring for the club's youth side. A switch to Ligue 1 could provide the Brazilian with the regular playing time he desperately needs to kickstart his career.
