Brittany De Villiers, the fiancée of Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, has voiced her disagreement with Thomas Tuchel's decision to omit the player from the England squad once again.
Following the announcement of the squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures, De Villiers took to social media to share some impressive statistics about her fiancé:
Morgan Gibbs-White is the only player to create five or more chances in a single Premier League match this season.
The 26-year-old midfielder kicked off the season with one goal and two assists in four Premier League appearances. However, he was also overlooked for selection for the England squad during the summer World Cup.
Tuchel explained Gibbs-White's absence by citing the fierce competition for the playmaker role, with Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, and Eberechi Eze all making the cut:
There's no point in calling up three, four, or five playmakers. That wouldn't help anyone. We recognise Morgan's form. He finished last season strongly and was a key player for Forest in their fight for Premier League survival. Right now, he's getting back to that level.
But it's one thing to receive a call-up and another to perform for England. That also matters.
England are set to face Spain, Czech Republic, and Croatia in their upcoming Nations League matches.
