Joe Gelhardt expressed his excitement for returning to the Premier League. The Hull City forward seized his chance, scoring against Everton and helping his team earn a 2-2 draw.

Hull City's Joe Gelhardt shared his excitement after the 2-2 draw against Everton. The forward broke the deadlock in the second half, scoring with an assist from Sorba Thomas.

In an interview with BBC Match of the Day, Gelhardt revealed he learned of his start just a day before the match and was eager to make an impact.

"Every player wants to be on the pitch. When I found out yesterday, I was buzzing and couldn't wait for the match to start.

There’s intense competition in the squad, and we know we have many quality players. So, when you get a chance, it’s crucial to make the most of it to secure your place in the team and make the manager rethink his decisions," he explained.

Gelhardt emphasised how significant his return to the Premier League is after his time with Leeds United.

"It’s an incredible moment. Since I played for Leeds, I’ve been waiting so long for the opportunity to play in the Premier League again. Scoring a goal in that scenario is a feeling that’s hard to describe," the striker admitted.

The forward recollected how he scored his goal, crediting Sorba Thomas for a brilliant pass, leading Gelhardt to assess Jordan Pickford's movements before deftly chipping the goalkeeper.

"I remember Sorba delivered a superb pass. I was watching Pickford’s movements, trying to see if he’d react, and then I decided to chip him," the forward recounted.

Reflecting on the match outcome, Gelhardt concluded that the point earned was a good result for Hull City.
