According to Monga, the key reason behind his choice was the club's impressive track record for developing young talent and the well-defined pathway to the first team.

The interest from Arsenal was very serious; I was incredibly close to joining them, really close.
The main factor in my decision was the route to the first team and the club's overall stature. They have been so successful that when City come calling, you don't think twice. It's every kid's dream to win trophies and be at the top with the best.
Once I get my chance, I just need to prove myself, and the rest will follow. Personally, I can see myself more at City. I see myself in blue.
