Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has altered his plans regarding young midfielder Trey Nyan.
Initially, it was anticipated that the promising young player would head out on loan this summer, especially after the club turned down several suitors in January.
However, Nyan has impressed during pre-season training, leading Iraola to decide he will remain with the squad.
The manager has made it clear that he intends to keep the former Leicester man and give him a more significant role within the team.
Nyan could even find himself in the starting XI alongside Dominik Szoboszlai for the opening Premier League match against Newcastle.
This decision comes amid the potential departure of Curtis Jones to Inter Milan for a fee of €35 million. Jones played 49 matches last season, frequently stepping in for the club's regular midfield trio.
Adding to the mix is Alexis Mac Allister, who is still regaining his fitness following his involvement in the World Cup final with Argentina.
It’s worth noting that Trey Nyan joined Liverpool in 2023 for a fee of £1 million and has since made 20 appearances for the first team.
