Emmanuel Emega might not have kicked a ball for Chelsea yet, but he is capturing attention for his off-field antics. During the international break, the 23-year-old forward took advantage of two days off to head to Paris, where he was seen outside a nightclub.
As he left the venue, Emega declared:
I'm not a footballer, I'm an artist! I've got two days off, so I'm making the most of it...
It's possible that his comment about not being a footballer was a ploy to steer clear of unwanted attention. However, French media suggested that Xabi Alonso might not appreciate this kind of episode.
Chelsea sealed Emega's transfer from Strasbourg back in September 2025, with the forward linking up with the London side during the summer. A pre-season injury has, however, kept him from debuting for his new club.
Emega has had a history of injury troubles, having faced four different setbacks last season and missing a total of 266 days. Despite this, he managed to score eight goals and provide two assists in just eight matches for Strasbourg, accumulating 898 minutes of play. The season prior, he bagged 14 goals and three assists in 29 appearances.
Marseille had considered a loan for the forward last summer, and while Chelsea was open to letting Emega go, initially, Xabi Alonso had hoped to include him in his plans. However, after reviewing medical records, the French club pulled out of the deal.
It is expected that Emega will be back in contention soon, but he will face stiff competition for a place in the attack from the likes of Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck.
