Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini has inked a new long-term deal with the club that will keep him there until 2031, yet this hasn’t deterred Premier League interest. As reported by TEAMtalk, at least five English clubs are monitoring the 22-year-old.
The most serious pursuits are from Newcastle and Chelsea. The Magpies have been keeping an eye on Scalvini for several years and have made multiple attempts to secure his signature. Their latest bid came last summer, but Atalanta rebuffed their advances.
Chelsea also expressed interest in the player during the summer and continues to weigh up a move in light of their defensive troubles. Tottenham have made inquiries regarding Scalvini too, although the emphasis for Spurs right now is bolstering their attack.
Manchester United and Manchester City have long had their sights set on Scalvini, first taking notice when he was still a teenager and still tracking his development.
The defender’s career faced hurdles due to a cruciate ligament injury in 2024, followed by shoulder surgery in 2025. However, he made a strong comeback last season, featuring in around 30 matches for Atalanta.
His new contract solidifies Atalanta’s position in any potential negotiations. However, the agreement until 2031 has not dulled the enthusiasm of English clubs regarding a possible transfer for Scalvini.
