Barcelona are heavily invested in finalising the transfer of Manchester City midfielder Rodri. As reported by Diario SPORT, the Spanish international has expressed a clear preference for swapping Manchester for Catalonia instead of joining Real Madrid, who have also been monitoring his situation.
It’s understood that Barcelona have submitted a second, improved offer to the City hierarchy and are ramping up negotiations. Head coach Hansi Flick is keen for Rodri to join the team at their Ciutat Esportiva training complex by August 12.
Barcelona were hard at work on the transfer over the weekend and have made some progress; however, the deal is yet to be finalised. A major sticking point remains financial, with City determined to secure approximately €80 million for their key midfielder.
Manchester City’s manager Enzo Maresca made it clear that Rodri will remain with the team until an official agreement is reached on the transfer.
“At this stage, it looks like he will be in Manchester on Wednesday,” Maresca stated.
