Willian detailed in a podcast why he turned down a move to Tottenham after a medical, opting instead for Chelsea.

Former midfielder Willian has opened up about his genuine desire to play for Chelsea, which led him to dramatically turn down a move to Tottenham in 2013, even after completing a medical with the Spurs. Speaking on 'The Obi One Podcast', the Brazilian shared insights into that high-profile transfer saga.

According to the player, while he was in Russia, his agent was in talks with several clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham, but his heart was set on the west Londoners. On the day he was supposed to sign with Spurs after passing his medical, he realised he didn’t want to make that move. As soon as his agent informed him of interest from Chelsea, the winger made an instant decision in favour of the Blues.

In August 2013, he joined Chelsea from Anzhi Makhachkala for around £30 million and went on to enjoy seven successful years with the club.
