Vangelis Pavlidis is still focused on his dream of playing in the Premier League. The striker remained at Benfica during the summer transfer window, but both Tottenham and Aston Villa are reportedly monitoring his situation, with the player himself keen on a move to England.
Pavlidis is in his third season with Benfica after arriving from AZ in 2024. Last season, he enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring 30 goals and providing six assists in 53 appearances, which caught the attention of several European clubs.
During the summer, Tottenham and Aston Villa were among the clubs linked with a move for the Greek international. Despite a hefty release clause of €100 million in his contract, it has been reported that Benfica were open to discussing offers around €40 million.
However, a transfer did not materialise. Benfica's new head coach, Marco Silva, made it clear that keeping Pavlidis was a top priority, leading to the forward staying put in Lisbon.
Yet, Pavlidis's aspirations have not changed. He reportedly views playing in the Premier League as one of his main career objectives and is prepared to consider a transfer if Benfica agree to release him under satisfactory terms for all parties involved.
Tottenham’s interest appears particularly serious, with reports indicating that a representative from the London club was present to watch Pavlidis in action during a recent match against Porto.
The situation in Spurs' attacking lineup could also influence their next steps, as the potential departure of Richarlison might free up space for another central striker. Currently, they have Dominik Solanke and Omar Marmoush on their books.
Aston Villa, on the other hand, have a more diverse forward pool including Nicolas Jackson, Tammy Abraham, and Bryan Mbeumo. This could imply that Tottenham might offer Pavlidis a clearer route to regular playing time, although specific negotiations regarding a new transfer have yet to be detailed.
