Alex Scott shone on his first start for England, and Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for the Bournemouth midfielder following a thumping 7-0 victory over Croatia.
Scott made his international debut as a substitute against the Czech Republic, and earned a starting spot for the clash with Croatia. In that midfield showdown, he teamed up with his close friend Elliot Anderson, helping England secure their largest win in Nations League history.
Tuchel was particularly impressed by Scott's composure on the ball and his ability to track back:
This was a fantastic first start. What a game.
He is currently incredibly good on the ball, making decisions at the highest level and playing with immense confidence. He is very active, self-assured, and with his work off the ball, he has all the qualities we need.
Together with Elliot, he brought us lots of movement, variety, and a tremendous work rate in midfield.
Chelsea have been keen on Scott since last summer and continue to see him as a priority for bolstering their midfield. However, Bournemouth are not keen on parting with the England international in January.
The potential deal's price tag could be hefty. Scott's estimated transfer value stands at around €55.8 million, but Bournemouth is expected to demand a club-record fee. Sources suggest serious negotiations would require an offer of at least €100 million.
Competition for the stylish midfielder may also ramp up. Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the situation as they consider long-term options in central midfield, while interest from Arsenal has also been attributed to Scott in recent weeks.
As it stands, no agreements regarding the player's future have been made. Bournemouth hope to keep Scott at least until the end of the season, and his performances for England only heighten attention on one of the Premier League's most promising young talents.
